  • I always felt I was queer: Tilda Swinton

    By IANS
LOS ANGELES: Actress Tilda Swinton has revealed she identifies herself as queer, and says that she has finally found her queer circus.

In a new interview with British Vogue, the 60-year-old actress opened up about her sexuality, reports dailymail.co.uk.

“I always felt I was queer – I was just looking for my queer circus, and I found it,” said the actress, who is currently in a relationship with painter Sandro Kopp.

“I’m very clear that queer is actually, for me anyway, to do with sensibility. And having found it, it’s my world,” she added.

The actress also touched upon her close relationships with her industry colleagues, saying: “Now I have a family with Wes Anderson, I have a family with Bong Joon-ho, I have a family with Jim Jarmusch, I have a family with Luca Guadagnino, with Lynne Ramsay, with Joanna Hogg.”

On gender identity, the star had said in the past: “I don’t know if I could ever really say that I was a girl – I was kind of a boy for a long time. I don’t know, who knows? It changes.

“That whole idea of transformation is at the heart of what I’m interested in as a performer and not least through the idea of gender. It’s a very personal matter. I can categorically say that as Orlando does in the film: Yes, I’m probably a woman,” she added.

According to the actress, she faced issues surrounding her ability to get pregnant after learning she had undiagnosed endometriosis a few years back.

  • Ricky Gervais reveals he turned down chance to do comedy in space

    By ANI
WASHINGTON: Comedian and host Ricky Gervais recently revealed that he had turned down a chance to become the first comedian to do a gig in space.

According to Fox News, the 59-year-old host appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ and told the late-night host that he was recently pitched the new opportunity but felt it was too dangerous.

“I was offered one of these things where you go up into space for 15 minutes. And it was like a group of billionaires and they offered me the chance to be the first comedian to do a stand-up show in space. No. I’m not going to risk it,” he said.

The creator of ‘After Life,’ then said that the whole experience would have been a waste of time for him.

“These people have paid USD 300,000 to go into space and have a look around… and then they go there and it’s Ricky Gervais doing 10 minutes. They can watch me on YouTube,” he jokingly said.

Fox News reported that the comic has also applied his no-nonsense attitude to the social media phenomenon that is cancel culture and its impact on the world of comedy and how difficult he finds it to make comedy in an environment where the consequences of one’s words are so dire.

  • Alec Baldwin delivers spoof farewell address as US President Donald Trump

    By ANI
WASHINGTON: Alec Baldwin reprised his Emmy-winning ‘Saturday Night Live’ role as President Donald Trump to deliver a mock farewell address just a week before the real-life commander in chief bids farewell to the White House.

According to Fox News, the actor and comedian teamed up with writer Kurt Andersen to present ‘Hasta la Vista, America: Trump’s Farewell Address.’

A three-minute-long teaser of the nearly 45-minute audiobook was released on Tuesday (local time) on SoundCloud. The teaser sees Baldwin putting on the voice of Trump and stating that the upcoming speech is “the most important speech” by the President.

“That’s right. For a while you’re still free to say ‘Happy New Year’ like you were free on New Year’s Eve to gather together and have fantastic parties and hug and sing and kiss without masks,” Fox News quoted Baldwin as saying as he turns Trump.

During the address, Baldwin referenced a New Year’s Eve bash thrown by Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort which reportedly did not require face masks or social distancing amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Baldwin is then heard correcting himself after speaking to someone in the background.

“Ok got it. Or with masks. Your choice, especially if you’re not immune like me and the first family,” the Trump parody said.

The monologue continued with Baldwin declaring that since he is leaving the throne of the President “America will be much less great again” come the Easter holiday.

“Soon in March or April or whenever, try going into a restaurant or a store if they’re not all shut down already and say, ‘Happy Easter!’ They’ll scream at you, kick you out, even if you’re wearing a mask,” Fox News quoted the parody Trump as saying.

“Although I actually could tell lies if I wanted but I don’t and that’s actually why they hate me — the phonies, the radicals, the liberals, the elitists, the fake media, the Antifas — because I tell too much truth,” he added.

Baldwin then went on to mock the real-life Trump’s claim that the 2020 elections were rigged.

“Washington invented what I’m doing now. What many historians called his ‘farewell address’… could have run again, won very easily, another term, then again and again and again, no rule against it. Also back then elections weren’t rigged,” the Emmy-winning actor said.

“We Love Trump” chants then started echoing in the background, following which the audio featured Trump calling out the “squad” which constituted of Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, Cory Booker and Rashida Tlaib, and Kamala Harris, reported Fox News.

“Farewell for now as far as the White House goes because never say never. I mean, you know, after the total takeover by the communists look at that squad over in Congress. I call it a death squad, like in the bad places they come from,” Baldwin said.

Earlier in October, the 62-year-old actor had essayed President Trump for a ‘Saturday Night Live’ sketch, where he had revealed to the public that he and first lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19. Baldwin’s fellow celebrity Jim Carrey took on the role of Joe Biden.

  • Jimmy Fallon draws lowest ‘Tonight’ audience rating

    By ANI
WASHINGTON: American comedian Jimmy Fallon drew the lowest rating on Monday’s showing of ‘The Tonight Show.’

According to Fox News, the 46-year-old comedian averaged the smallest television audience ever for an original episode of the late-night show, according to early Nielsen ratings – pulling in 947,000 total viewers on Monday night (local time).

One of Fallon’s competing programs, Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show,’ on CBS took the cake on Monday evening, drawing just over 2 million viewers, according to Nielsen’s Live and Same Day fast-national numbers as reported by The Wrap.

As reported by Fox News, coming in at second place was ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ with 1.67 million total viewers.

Per the outlet, the final numbers are expected on Wednesday.

With Fallon’s showing on Monday, the ratings unseat a previous low for an original ‘Tonight Show’ episode that came as recently as September 25, 2020 – on that night Fallon secured 992,000 total viewers when his show was delayed following a Stanley Cup Finals game.

As reported by Fox News, Fallon’s guest list on Monday was not short on big names, either.

He welcomed funnyman Bill Burr, Rashida Jones and had Old Dominion on as the evening’s musical guest.

Meanwhile, Colbert interviewed Chris Rock on Monday night while welcoming Joss Stone as the show’s musical performer.

If late-night fans had switched over to Kimmel on ABC, they would have seen ‘This Is Us’ star Milo Ventimiglia and Jake Tapper with Queen Naija as the musical guest.

  • Chuck Norris denies being at Capitol attack after lookalike’s image goes viral

    By PTI
LOS ANGELES: Veteran action star Chuck Norris has denied that he was part of the mob that attacked the Capitol Hill last week.

The 80-year-old actor’s name was trending through Tuesday after a picture was uploaded to Twitter, showing a Donald Trump supporter next to a man with a likeness to Norris, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Norris, however, denied that he was the man in the photo, asserting that he is not a person who will break the law.

“I recently learned there was a Chuck Norris lookalike at the DC Capitol riots. It wasn’t me and I wasn’t there. There is no room for violence of any kind in our society. I am and always will be for Law and Order,” he tweeted.

A spokesperson for the actor also denied that Norris was part of the mob that attacked Capitol Hill, insisting that the action hero was actually thousands of miles away from Washington DC.

“This is not Chuck Norris and is a wannabe lookalike, although Chuck is much more handsome. Chuck remains on his ranch in Texas where he has been with his family,” the representative said in a statement.

Last week, the Trump supporters clashed with police at the Capitol, where members of Congress were going through the process of counting and certifying the Electoral College votes.

The violent attack resulted in at least five deaths and interrupting a constitutional process to affirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the election.
