In a stirring address during the release of ‘Smarter Than the Storm,’ Amitabh Kant, ex-CEO of NITI Aayog and G20 Sherpa, stressed that artificial intelligence must embrace multilingualism to realize its transformative power. Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Tuesday, he argued that AI needs to handle both regional Indian languages and international ones effortlessly.
India is positioning itself at the forefront of emerging tech, Kant noted, with his book delving into AI’s role in crafting resilient economies and governance models. He called for urgent alignment of AI with clean energy sources. ‘Pair it with modular renewable systems—solar, wind, and beyond—and ensure it’s adaptable through smart software oversight,’ he advised.
Joining him, co-author Siddharth Sinha praised the India AI Mission for opening up computing and data resources to all. The recent India AI Impact Summit underscored India’s rising global stature in AI.
‘Real change for social issues will bubble up from the ground level,’ Sinha remarked at the event. He showcased AI’s versatility in forecasting disasters like floods and fires, enhancing data center efficiency, and even tracking wildfires. However, the technology’s hefty energy footprint cannot be ignored.
Tailored for leaders in turbulent times, the book integrates climate strategies, AI innovations, policy overhauls, and economic blueprints—positioning it as a must-have guide for entrepreneurs, executives, and reformers.
