What to Expect in Indian Equities Next Week: Earnings, Geopolitics and Inflation

Mumbai, Aug 9 – The upcoming trading week (10‑14 August) carries a blend of catalysts for the Indian stock market. First‑quarter earnings reports, the lingering US‑Iran diplomatic tension, crude oil prices staying near $83 a barrel, and the imminent publication of retail and wholesale price indices will together shape market direction.

Investors will keep a close eye on a broad roster of companies, from SkyGold and Bosch to Bombay Dyeing, Dollar, DBL, ITDC, Vodafone Idea, Ideaforge, Hindustan Copper, Linde India, VGuard, G, Bata India, E‑Pac, EPL, IFSC and JNKE India.

The geopolitical landscape remains uneasy but calm, with no active strikes between the United States and Iran, allowing oil markets to maintain relative stability.

Domestic inflation numbers, due later in the week, are expected to influence sentiment by revealing the current state of consumer price pressures.

The market closed the prior week on an upbeat note. The Nifty climbed to 24,570.65, a rise of 187.05 points (0.77%). The Sensex finished at 78,499.17, up 404.53 points (0.52%). Mid‑cap and small‑cap indices also recorded advances, with Nifty Midcap 100 at 63,463.55 (+0.87%) and Nifty Smallcap 100 at 19,867.80 (+2.73%).

Sectoral leaders were PSU banks (+5.01%), defence (+4.30%), metals (+3.70%) and autos (+3.14%). IT, manufacturing, commodities, infra and FMCG all showed solid growth, whereas media, realty, financial services, private banks and healthcare posted modest declines.
