Westlife Foodworld Q2 Profit Turns to Loss; Revenue Up 16.4%

Mumbai, October 23: Westlife Foodworld Limited, which handles McDonald's operations in western and southern India, has posted a net loss of Rs 2.7 crore for the July to September quarter of fiscal 2026-27. A year earlier, in the same quarter of fiscal 2026, the company had earned a net profit of Rs 37 crore. The company has therefore slipped from profit into loss, although its income recorded solid growth.

The stock exchange filing shows that operating revenue for the September quarter increased 16.4 percent to Rs 747 crore. The figure stood at Rs 642 crore for the corresponding period a year ago.

On the operational front, the company delivered a relatively firm performance. EBITDA rose by 39.2 percent on an annual basis to Rs 94 crore, up from Rs 67.3 crore last year. Over the same period, the EBITDA margin moved up from 10.5 percent to 12.5 percent.

The company attributed the improvement in operating profit to better operations, efficiency gains and tighter cost control. Operating EBITDA went up 29 percent to Rs 98.1 crore, with the EBITDA margin rising to 13.1 percent. Cash PAT came in at Rs 52.6 crore, indicating a healthy 7 percent margin.

The company also continued to grow its footprint during the quarter. Westlife Foodworld added 11 new restaurants, which took its outlet count to 492 across 80 cities. The company said its focus remains on enhancing reach and customer convenience in current and emerging markets.

Chairman Amit Jatia said the quarterly results highlight the strength of the company's strategy and execution. "Customer growth, improved profitability and sustained expansion position us well to tap future opportunities, deliver long-term value and further consolidate our leadership in the industry," he said.

Digital business remained a prominent growth driver as well. Digital channels accounted for over 75 percent of total sales in the September quarter. Downloads of the McDonald's app crossed 5.8 crore, while monthly active users grew to nearly 42 lakh.

Despite rising revenue and stronger operating performance, the decline in final profit suggests that other financial and non-operating expenses kept pressure on the company, leading to a net loss for the quarter.
