The Kerala government announced that Vizhinjam International Seaport, positioned among the deepest Indian ports, will serve as a direct EXIM conduit from August 18. The development is expected to strengthen the state's position in the international shipping network, offering full‑container‑load (FCL) imports to be delivered straight to the port and enabling factory‑stuffed, sealed FCL consignments for export. The chief minister’s inauguration will mark the beginning of a phased rollout that integrates customs procedures with cargo‑handling operations, aiming to boost regional trade efficiency.
