In a game-changing move, the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is set to propel Indian exports and innovation to new heights, opening doors in IT and several other vital sectors. Speaking to media, ESC Chairman Veer Sagar described the pact as a milestone that elevates India from a service provider to an equal innovator.
‘This is the first time we’re partnering on such a massive scale with multiple nations,’ Sagar remarked. The deal fosters collaboration in high-value domains including AI, automation, product design, and development, particularly benefiting the IT industry.
Visa hurdles that once plagued Indian professionals heading to Europe for jobs or studies are now history. Simplified approvals will boost cross-border movement, nurturing deeper work and academic exchanges between the two regions.
Sagar highlighted how the FTA complements national goals like self-reliance. ‘We’ll co-produce: parts in India, assembly in Europe, or vice versa,’ he explained, promoting a model of mutual accountability.
No longer relegated to low-end tasks, India steps up in innovation across automobiles, pharma, agriculture, finance, and beyond. Buoyed by its manufacturing surge, India is now viewed by Europeans as a reliable ally in the global supply chain.
The agreement paves the way for technology transfers and shared expertise, not just spiking exports but positioning India as a leader in innovation and production on the world stage.
