Three‑Wheeler and Two‑Wheeler Deliveries Jump Over 20% in August 2026

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers disclosed that three‑wheelers shipped 93,764 units in August 2026, up 22.8 % from a year earlier. Two‑wheelers recorded 20,34,698 units, reflecting a 10.5 % increase.

These gains complement a 36.5 % surge in passenger‑car sales, taking total wholesale production for the month to 31,57,822 units across all vehicle categories.

Director‑General Rajesh Menon pointed to the GST 2.0 regime as a catalyst that compressed the August 2025 base, thereby magnifying the apparent growth. He also noted that strong rural market performance and improving auto financing are sustaining demand.

The upbeat August numbers follow July’s record‑setting month, when dealer supplies of passenger cars rose 34.3 % to 4,57,810 units and two‑wheelers grew 22.6 % to 19,23,483 units.
