Sugarcane Farmers to Receive ₹4,000 per Ton After State Subsidy Increase

The state also unveiled a significant boost in the incentive paid to sugarcane growers. While the central government offers ₹3,290.50 per tonne to sugar mills, Tamil Nadu will contribute an extra ₹709.50 per tonne, raising the total reimbursement to ₹4,000 per tonne. Chief Minister Vijay highlighted that this is the first occasion the state’s sugarcane procurement price has reached the four‑thousand‑rupee mark. The enhanced payout is designed to support farmers facing escalating costs for seeds, fertilizers, and equipment, and to ensure a stable supply of raw material to the state’s sugar industry.
