ISMA President Neeraj Shirgavkar reaffirmed that India holds a robust buffer stock of about 35 lakh tonnes at the close of the 2025‑26 season, far exceeding domestic demand. He highlighted that government measures have improved farmer incomes and that the existing inventory will comfortably meet upcoming market needs. The association expects the retail market to feel the impact of this surplus within the next two to three weeks, translating into lower consumer prices.
