Startup ecosystem thrives with over 2.47 lakh recognized firms

India’s entrepreneurial landscape has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past decade. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade recorded that the number of recognised startups surged to more than 2.47 lakh by August 2026, a stark contrast to the mere 502 startups documented in 2016.

Government initiatives, ease‑of‑doing‑business reforms, and increased access to funding have collectively fostered an environment where innovation can flourish. This burgeoning ecosystem is now contributing significantly to employment generation and GDP growth, positioning India as a global hub for technology‑driven enterprises.
