Stakeholder Demands for Fitment Factors from 3.61 to 4.0 Explained

Various representative bodies have lodged their fitment factor requests with the eighth Pay Commission. The Ministry of Staff Association (MSA) put forward a 3.61 ratio, while the National Council‑JCM and the Bharat Pensioners Society (BPS) pushed for 3.833. The Indian Defense Workers Union (IDWWU) has taken the most ambitious stance, advocating a full 4.00 factor.

These demands are based on the belief that higher multipliers will not only improve the basic pay but also uplift pension calculations, dearness allowances and other linked benefits. Experts caution, however, that the final figures will also depend on the new pay matrix, inflation allowance, and any additional concessions the commission may recommend.
