SBI Raises Cash Withdrawal Charges, Limits Free Withdrawals to Four per Month
State Bank of India (SBI) has introduced a fee of ₹15 for each cash withdrawal that exceeds the four‑free‑withdrawal allowance per month for its Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) customers. The fee is applicable before GST.
All other digital transactions, including internet banking, mobile app payments, and card‑based purchases, will remain without any charge. The bank also clarified that the new rule applies to Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) transactions, which will now be counted within the four free digital transactions limit, eliminating the earlier exemption.
Financial results for the first quarter of FY27 show a 10.23% year‑on‑year increase in net profit, reaching ₹21,121.22 crore. Interest income rose 8.5% YoY to ₹1,27,896.46 crore, while total income grew 6.2% YoY to ₹1,43,819.15 crore. Total expenses for the quarter increased by 5.2% YoY, amounting to ₹1,10,289.97 crore.
