All SBI ATMs Free of Charge During Strike; Branches Remain Open on Sunday

In response to the impending nationwide banking strike, the State Bank of India has announced a temporary suspension of ATM fees for the period of September 28‑30, 2026. The fee waiver covers every ATM transaction, including cash withdrawals and balance checks, across the entire ATM network.

The policy ensures that customers will not face any monetary penalties when accessing cash, even if they use ATMs belonging to other banks. This blanket exemption is part of SBI’s effort to mitigate the impact of the strike on everyday banking.

Furthermore, SBI confirmed that all its branches will operate on Sunday, September 27, providing a safety net for customers who prefer visiting a branch for services such as account opening, cash deposits, or assistance with loan queries.

Digital payment methods such as UPI, IMPS, ATGS and NEFT are also slated to remain uninterrupted, preserving the flow of online transactions throughout the work stoppage.

The announcement was made through the bank’s official communication platform, underscoring its dedication to customer convenience despite the industrial dispute.
