Rising Leaders program highlights India's expanding role in global energy markets
The Rising Leaders program, organized by ILEAD Global Foundation and the India Office of Conrad Adenauer Stiftung, brought together about 70 young professionals and scholars to discuss India’s rapid ascent in the energy arena.
Minister Puri emphasized that India’s status as the world’s third‑largest energy consumer, third‑largest crude‑oil importer, and fourth‑largest refiner makes it a pivotal force in shaping future energy trends.
He pointed out that despite geopolitical tensions, India has maintained a steady flow of fuel to its population, focusing on affordability, accessibility, and sustainability.
The dialogue also covered the country’s progress in diversifying its energy basket, enhancing security of supply, and supporting a resilient energy ecosystem.
According to the minister, the enthusiasm and expertise of the youth participants are essential for fostering innovation in energy transition and broader sustainable development initiatives.
