Retailers Claim Diwali Sales Hit by Repeated Demonstrations

Atul Bhargav, president of the New Delhi Traders Association, highlighted that the period from Navratri to Holi is crucial for inventory turnover.

He said his members have stocked up in anticipation of peak demand, but frequent rallies make it difficult for customers to reach stores.

While acknowledging the right to peaceful protest, Bhargav emphasized that such activities should be confined to allocated spaces rather than commercial hubs like Connaught Place.

The association has asked the government to enforce a temporary ban on demonstrations in the district for the next three months.
