Regulatory crackdown: Delhi and Daman food businesses face strict penalties

In a coordinated effort to enforce food safety standards, the FSSAI carried out inspections at two separate locations – a retail outlet in Delhi and a ghee manufacturing unit in Daman. The Delhi inspection highlighted serious shortcomings in hygiene, record‑keeping and employee health documentation, prompting a 30‑day license suspension. In Daman, repeated samples from SDP Industries showed persistent adulteration across multiple product variants and time periods, leading to a comprehensive ban on the company's ghee products. Officials emphasized that the violations were systemic rather than isolated to a single batch.
