Reduced rains speed up mining; CIL expands CHP‑silo system ahead of dry season

The Ministry of Coal reported that a decline in monsoon rain has eased ground conditions, prompting a swift acceleration in coal production and supply. Drier layers have reduced the stickiness of wet coal, facilitating its flow through coal handling plants (CHPs) and simplifying loading, operation, and distribution.

CIL’s subsidiaries used the low‑demand window to enhance their CHP‑silo infrastructure. As the dry spell commences, they are clearing rail tracks at loading points and yards, while firms like NCL and SECL have added crushing capacity for upcoming needs.
