Rail Capacity Expansion Expected to Add 27 MTPA Freight Traffic

Officials highlighted that rail transport is an energy‑efficient, low‑carbon alternative that supports India's climate commitments. The increased capacity will cut logistics costs, reduce oil imports by about 12 crore litres and lower CO₂ emissions by roughly 62 crore kilograms – an impact comparable to planting 2.48 crore trees. Improved rail links will also benefit major tourist destinations such as Taratarini Temple, Bhandavgarh Tiger Reserve and Amarkantak.
