FY27 Q1 Earnings Season Drives Stock Movements in India
Mumbai, August 2 – The Indian share market is gearing up for a busy earnings window as a dozen major firms prepare to unveil their FY27 first‑quarter numbers between August 3 and 7. Companies such as Birla Cables, Bluejet, CAMS, Irda, Mobiquick, PNC, SBIFunds, Bharat Airtel, Kalyan Jewellers, MapMyIndia, ONGC, Nayak, PN B Housing, UBL, Tata Invest, Beka, Baicon, HT Media and JK Lakshmi Cement will all contribute data that could steer market direction.
The backdrop to this reporting season includes the RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee, slated to sit from August 3‑5, 2026. The committee will assess whether to alter the repo rate, currently at 5.25 per cent, with the final decision expected from Governor Sanjay Malhotra on the concluding day.
Recent market action has been notably positive. The Sensex jumped 2,034.87 points, a 2.68% rise, closing at 78,094.64. The Nifty posted a gain of 616.15 points, or 2.59%, ending at 24,383.60. Mid‑cap and small‑cap segments mirrored the upside, with the Nifty Mid‑Cap 100 up 1,292.95 points (2.10%) at 62,915.30 and the Nifty Small‑Cap 100 climbing 464.70 points (2.46%) to 19,339.65.
Sectoral leaders were clear: IT surged 6.75%, Media 5.97%, Auto 5.61%, Pharma 3.86%, Healthcare 3.20%, Manufacturing 3.05% and Services 2.71%. The few laggards were Defence, Energy and PSE, each slipping between 0.10% and 0.25%.
