PM-Kisan 24th Instalment Released From Gujarat's Bhildi Village
In a major boost for India's farming community, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 24th instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme on Friday, speaking from Bhildi in Gujarat's Banaskantha district. A total of over ₹18,680 crore was transferred directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.34 crore farmer households across the country.
The transfer was made through Direct Benefit Transfer and was announced as part of the national PM Kisan Utsav Diwas, a programme held under the direction of the Prime Minister. The government says the initiative is designed to strengthen financial backing for farmers and bolster income support in the farm sector.
Gujarat was among the biggest gainers. Over 52.33 lakh farmer families in the state received more than ₹1,051 crore. Before the event, Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani reviewed the arrangements and gave the media an update on the progress.
According to Vaghani, the first 23 instalments have so far delivered more than ₹4.47 lakh crore to over 11 crore farmer families nationwide. In Gujarat, more than 69.26 lakh beneficiaries have received over ₹24,137 crore in total.
The programme was live-streamed across the country. To involve farmers in Gujarat, 34 district-level events and more than 2,100 cluster-level gatherings were organised. Ministers, MPs, MLAs, elected representatives, agricultural scientists and senior officials took part.
Sanction letters for schemes run by the agriculture and horticulture departments were handed over to beneficiary farmers during the event. PM-Kisan offers regular income assistance to eligible farm families, supporting their cultivation activities and household needs.
The Bhildi event was also tied to the launch of several agriculture and animal husbandry projects in Banaskantha. Among them are the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre, valued at ₹328.77 crore, and two proposed compressed biogas plants of Banas Dairy at Tharad and Radhanpur. An expansion of the potato processing unit and an automated storage and retrieval system for ultra-high temperature products were also inaugurated.
The Prime Minister's tour continues in Ekta Nagar. On Friday evening, he will visit the Bharat Parv Mandap at the Statue of Unity complex and watch 'Anandmath', a play presented by the National School of Drama.
On October 31, the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and National Unity Day, the Prime Minister will lay a floral wreath at the Statue of Unity. He will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for various development projects in Ekta Nagar.
He will additionally take part in the 'Aarambh 2026' programme, meet trainee civil servants, and inspect the parade and take the salute at the main National Unity Day function.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will be present alongside the Prime Minister.
