Piyush Goyal’s Japan Tour Aims to Boost India‑Japan Economic Ties

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is set to travel to Japan from August 24‑27, 2026, leading the most extensive Indian business delegation ever. The team of over 200 delegates spans a broad spectrum of sectors such as manufacturing, semiconductors, clean power, steel, automotive, financial services, health care and innovative start‑ups.

In Tokyo, the minister will hold discussions with senior executives of major Japanese groups that have been long‑term partners in India’s development. He will also join a round‑table with Keidanren, the Japanese Business Federation representing more than 1,500 leading firms.

Goyal’s schedule features a bilateral dialogue with Japan’s Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Ryosei Akazawa, meetings with senior officials of the Japanese government and parliament, and outreach to the Indian diaspora in Japan.

The delegation’s itinerary continues to Nagoya, where Goyal will lead a roadshow with the Central Japan Economic Union and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce, meeting key investors from Aichi’s automotive and steel industries. The final leg in Osaka will consist of investor roadshows and meetings with top Japanese companies in electronics, industrial and consumer domains, emphasizing opportunities in India’s manufacturing, clean‑energy and consumer markets.
