Oil Price Dip Helps Indian Benchmarks Close Near Daily Highs

A decline in crude oil prices, amid hopes for a ceasefire in the US‑Iran conflict, supported Indian indices on Friday. The Sensex climbed 0.43 percent to close at 73,895.74, while the Nifty 50 gained 0.34 percent to end at 23,140.50.

Both benchmarks opened below their previous closes—Sensex at 73,525.92 and Nifty at 23,035—but rallied strongly during the session. The Sensex peaked at 73,968.05 and the Nifty reached a high of 23,162.70 before settling near their daily highs.

Sector leaders were real estate and automobiles, whereas cement, media, IT and pharma lagged. The Nifty Mid‑Cap 100 fell 0.14 percent, contrasted by a 0.15 percent rise in the Nifty Small‑Cap index.

Commentary from market specialists highlighted that the dip in oil prices softened external pressure, yet persistent high bond yields and inflation worries limited the upside. Maintaining levels above the 23,000 threshold signals that domestic funding remains ample, encouraging selective buying despite global headwinds.
