No Fuel Crisis in Odisha: Minister Urges Calm Over Pump Queues

In a bid to quell rising public anxiety, Odisha Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Krushna Chandra Patra declared on Friday that the state is well-stocked with petrol and diesel. Long lines at fuel outlets since Thursday have sparked fears, but officials insist there's zero shortage. The minister directly addressed the frenzy, saying ample reserves eliminate any need for hoarding. Global uncertainties have evidently prompted this knee-jerk reaction, leading to avoidable crowds at pumps. Speaking candidly, Patra highlighted how unfounded fears are driving people to queue up in droves. 'We've got plenty of fuel in Odisha – no disruptions here,' he reassured, criticizing bulk purchases that exacerbate the situation. 'Some are grabbing 40-50 liters unnecessarily, spreading panic,' he noted. Previously smooth operations have turned chaotic solely due to this behavior, prompting plans for public sensitization drives. Patra advised mindful consumption given worldwide market pressures from geopolitical conflicts and supply chain hiccups. Odisha's administration remains proactive, tracking every link in the supply chain to guarantee seamless distribution. Echoing this, Kamal Sheel from IOCL affirmed that stocks across IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, Reliance, and Nayara are sufficient to handle public needs. 'Stay calm; don't stockpile,' he advised, emphasizing steady supply flows.
