Nifty mid‑cap slips, small‑cap climbs; IT sector leads gains amid global oil jump
The Indian share market opened flat on Tuesday as Brent crude rose 0.41 percent to $88.08 a barrel. The BSE Sensex registered a marginal dip of 32.67 points to 78,509.77 and the NSE Nifty 50 edged down 8.70 points to 24,575.10.
Nifty Mid‑Cap fell 0.02 percent, while Nifty Small‑Cap posted a 0.32 percent rise, indicating divergent momentum across market‑cap segments. IT stocks were the strongest contributors, with the Nifty IT index up 0.63 percent and the Nifty IT‑Telecom index gaining 0.73 percent. Consumer durables also rose 0.66 percent.
Banking stocks continued to feel pressure, with the private bank index slipping 0.64 percent and the PSU bank index down 0.62 percent. Analysts argue that as long as the Nifty can hold above the 24,400–24,450 support zone, the market may see further buying on dips.
