New Website to Publish Authentic Updates from West Bengal Pay Commission

The Seventh Pay Commission of West Bengal announced plans to roll out a dedicated website aimed at delivering accurate information to the public. The move follows a recent wave of misinformation circulating on social platforms, where fabricated documents falsely claimed to reveal the commission’s recommendations.

In its official bulletin, the commission warned that such spurious material could sow doubt and misinform citizens. It reiterated that the commission is in the early stages of its mandate, having convened its first session at Nabanna.

No official recommendations have been issued at this point.

The forthcoming website will serve as a central repository for all official notices, data gathered during stakeholder consultations, and will feature a channel for the public to submit comments and suggestions.

Simultaneously, the central government's Eighth Pay Commission is conducting discussions with its employees on wage revisions, pension reforms, allowances, fitness factors, promotion policies, career advancement, and service terms.

The West Bengal commission highlighted that the meetings slated for August are integral to a broader, ongoing consultation process. After concluding sessions in Delhi, the commission intends to hold similar meetings across other states and union territories. Recent consultations with various interest groups took place on July 9 and 10 in Kolkata, and the next consultation round is set for September 7‑8 in Chennai followed by September 9 in Puducherry.
