New milk pricing in Maharashtra reflects diesel and packaging cost hikes

Effective 11 August 2026, Maharashtra will implement a uniform increase of ₹2 per litre for cow and buffalo milk. The adjustment follows a recent spike in diesel, which is now ₹10 higher per litre, and a 30 percent escalation in the cost of milk packaging. These factors have raised the procurement price paid to dairy farmers, leading the Milk Producers and Processors Welfare Association to recommend the price revision.

The association also plans to raise the price of dairy products by up to 10 percent to offset the higher input costs, aiming to safeguard farmer incomes while keeping the market stable.
