New Gujarat‑Maharashtra‑Rajasthan Link Enhances North‑South Trade Flow

Stretching across five states—Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh—the 1,500‑kilometre freight corridor creates a direct artery between the nation’s northern interiors and the western seaports of JNPT, Mundra and Pipavav.

The government estimates that 70‑80 percent of the corridor’s capacity will serve inland container depots and export‑import traffic, reducing transit times for key goods.

Proposed expansions such as the Vadhavan Port, envisioned to be three times larger than JNPT, will further strengthen the maritime‑logistics ecosystem of Maharashtra.

Analysts expect the enhanced connectivity to attract manufacturing investments, streamline supply chains and generate substantial employment opportunities across the linked regions.
