Marking the Prime Minister’s birthday, the government touted the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme as a cornerstone of the "Atmanirbhar Bharat" vision. The scheme supplies young entrepreneurs with low‑interest credit and a partial subsidy to start small‑scale businesses.

Shakir Khan, a local aspiring entrepreneur from Dhamtari, turned the assistance into a functional hotel. The venture now employs six to seven young residents, turning them from job‑seekers into wage earners.

Khan explained that the loan approval was straightforward, and the subsidy helped bridge the funding gap. He added that without the programme his plans would have stayed on paper, highlighting the policy’s significance in fostering economic independence.

PMEGP targets youth, women and people in rural areas, encouraging them to launch enterprises in manufacturing, services or trade. The programme’s success stories, including Khan’s, demonstrate tangible progress toward inclusive growth and job creation.
