‘Made for Business’: Maharashtra’s New Investment Push Promises 300k Jobs

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the "Invest Maharashtra" campaign on Thursday, under the banner "Made for Business." The launch displayed 66 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with a combined worth of over $92.19 billion, or roughly ₹8.58 lakh crore. The projected capital is slated to create more than three hundred thousand direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Fadnavis addressed international investors, industrialists and state officials, stating that the scheme’s goal is to connect entrepreneurship with grassroots development, generating avenues for young engineers, local suppliers and the farming sector.

The freshly designed logo blends the “I” of investment with Maharashtra’s “M,” symbolising a partnership between the government and business. The "Made for Business" approach pledges a single‑window interface, time‑bound approvals and proactive dispute resolution.

The 66 MoUs target high‑growth arenas such as semiconductor manufacturing, data centre construction, renewable power, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, defence, health‑care and agri‑processing. The chief minister noted that the initiative dovetails with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s growth agenda and is intended to help Maharashtra reach a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

Project locations are spread across the state, reaching beyond Mumbai and Pune to include Vidarbha and Marathwada districts: Chandrapur, Wardha, Nagpur, Gondia, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Nashik, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Ratnagiri, Palghar and the larger Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

To underpin these investments, the government plans dedicated hubs for education, medical services and AI‑driven innovation, linking industrial expansion with talent development and research ecosystems. Fadnavis instructed the Invest Maharashtra team to take direct ownership of each project, monitor progress continuously and resolve regulatory impediments at the earliest.

He stressed that timely decisions can accelerate a factory’s launch, that solving bottlenecks creates jobs, and that transparent solutions give entrepreneurs confidence to expand. The CM also appealed to industry leaders to support the Chief Minister Relief Fund for drought‑stricken farming areas, and urged technology and manufacturing firms to apply their expertise in water‑conservation, efficient irrigation and waste‑water recycling to boost rural resilience.
