Kolkata‑Jogbani Corridor Enables Historic Canola Shipment to Nepal

The newly sanctioned rail link between Kolkata and Jogbani has delivered its inaugural payload of canola grain to Biratnagar, Nepal. The 40‑container train departed from Kolkata on July 17, traveled through the Indian customs yard at Jogbani, and entered Nepal via the Integrated Check Post at Biratnagar on July 20. This operation is a direct outcome of the protocol amendment signed in November 2025 under the Nepal‑India Transit Agreement. Authorities say the corridor will slash logistics costs and pave the way for larger volumes of agricultural and industrial goods.
