Investors to Participate in Auspicious Muhurat Trade as Markets Open on Sunday
For the first time in many weeks, Indian equity markets will be active on Sunday, 8 November, to accommodate a one‑hour Muhurat trading session on both the NSE and BSE. The session will run from 2:20 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., preceded by a pre‑open period (2:05 p.m.–2:20 p.m.) and a block‑deal window (1:50 p.m.–2:05 p.m.).
Muhurat trading is steeped in tradition, symbolising the onset of a new Hindu year and invoking the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. Many investors place symbolic orders during this window, hoping the auspicious timing will translate into favorable market performance.
The exchanges have also announced that the market will stay closed on 10 November for the Diwali‑Balipratipada holiday and on 24 November for Guru Nanak Dev Prakash, with regular weekend closures unchanged.
Financial analysts caution that while the cultural aspect adds morale, decisions to buy or sell should still be anchored in a company's financial health, long‑term outlook, and the investor’s own strategy.
