IndiGo Posts Q2 Loss of Rs 1,879 Crore; EBITDAR Margin Slips

Mumbai, October 29: IndiGo's parent company InterGlobe Aviation Ltd has announced its second-quarter results for FY 2026-27, covering July to September. The company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 1,879 crore for the quarter.

The loss is lower than the Rs 2,582 crore recorded in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year, the company disclosed in a filing with the stock exchanges.

The airline's operating revenue grew 25.9 per cent year on year to Rs 23,364 crore, compared with Rs 18,555 crore a year earlier. Management credited robust demand and revenue-enhancing initiatives for the growth.

EBITDA, which measures earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, surged 229 per cent to Rs 1,908 crore. The figure stood at Rs 579 crore in the year-ago quarter. The EBITDA margin rose to 8.2 per cent from 3.1 per cent.

While operating performance improved, EBITDAR fell 3 per cent to Rs 3,667 crore from Rs 3,792 crore. The EBITDAR margin dropped to 15.7 per cent from 20.4 per cent last year. EBITDAR is considered a key indicator of airline profitability.

IndiGo CEO Willy Walsh said the September quarter typically carries weaker business conditions. This year, he said, unusually high fuel prices and ongoing geopolitical disruptions also weighed on results.

Walsh said the airline remains focused on navigating near-term headwinds while continuing to invest for the future. He added that the long-term outlook for India's aviation industry remains compelling and that the company's priorities are safe operations, strict cost control and disciplined expansion aimed at sustainable value creation.
