Indian Stocks Rally 1%+ Again: Sensex Hits 75K Milestone

Defying currency woes and soaring oil prices, Indian equities extended their winning streak on Thursday, marking the second consecutive day of strong closes. The Sensex jumped 1.06% or 789.74 points to 75,398.72, with Nifty 50 gaining 1.18% or 277 points at 23,689.60. Trading opened on a high note, with Sensex at 74,947.12 scaling to 75,681.88 intraday, and Nifty from 23,530.25 to 23,777.20. Midcap stocks outperformed with 1.12% growth, while smallcaps edged down 0.01%. Standout sectors included pharma, healthcare, and metals surging over 2%, alongside financials, PSU and private banks, and durables up more than 1%. IT lagged, dropping almost 2%. Adani Enterprises stole the show with an 8.8% surge, followed by Cipla's 8.09% leap, Bharti Airtel's 5.2% rise, and gains in Hindalco, Dr. Reddy's, HDFC Bank, Adani Ports, Eternal, and Max Health. Losers were led by Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, Coal India, and TCS. Market capitalization swelled by Rs 4.3 lakh crore to Rs 462.9 lakh crore, rewarding investors handsomely. The upbeat mood persisted even as the rupee weakened to record lows and Brent crude exceeded $105/barrel. Market participants remain glued to the Trump-Xi meeting, anticipating ripples in trade dynamics.
