Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has delivered another milestone for rail connectivity as the CCEA approves three critical multi-tracking projects at a cost of Rs 18,509 crore. This move will add 389 kilometers to the national rail network, passing through 12 districts in four states and impacting 97 lakh residents.
Key corridors—Kasara-Manmad (third & fourth lines), Delhi-Ambala (third & fourth lines), and Ballari-Hospete (third & fourth lines)—aim to eliminate bottlenecks, boost capacity, and ensure smoother passenger and goods transport. Over 3,902 villages will see improved access, aligning perfectly with the government’s push for inclusive growth.
Under the PM Gati Shakti framework, these projects prioritize stakeholder consultations and seamless multi-modal links. They will enhance rail services to vital tourist hubs including the UNESCO-listed Hampi, Trimbakeshwar temple, Vaishno Devi, and wildlife sanctuaries like Daroji Sloth Bear.
On the freight front, expect a massive 96 million tonne annual increase in cargo handling for essentials like fertilizers, cement, and iron ore. As an eco-friendly alternative to road transport, railways will slash fuel imports and carbon footprint, supporting India’s climate goals while reducing logistics costs and creating employment opportunities across regions.
