Indian Market Sees Gold Slight Rise, Silver Up Over Half Percent
Mumbai, 26 August – The Indian commodities market opened on a positive note, with gold and silver both improving in early trade. MCX gold for the October 5 contract started at ₹1,63,202 per 10 grams, a ₹320 increment from the previous close, and later settled near ₹1,62,916.
Silver’s September 4, 2026 contract opened at ₹2,45,583 per kilogram, up ₹1,456 from its last close, and was trading at ₹2,45,421 by the time of reporting, marking a 0.53 percent increase.
Market observers point to the simultaneous dip in crude oil prices and a fall in bond yields as the primary catalysts. The softer dollar resulting from these movements has added support to the metals, driving the modest but firm gains.
Internationally, COMEX saw gold rise 0.11 percent to $4,699 per ounce and silver gain 0.74 percent to about $69 per ounce, reinforcing the positive trend seen on Indian exchanges.
