India Pledges Strong Partnership with Indonesia to Boost ASEAN Prosperity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the Indian community in Jakarta emphasized a deepening strategic partnership between India and Indonesia.

He praised Indonesia’s development achievements and reiterated India’s readiness to act as a “strong partner” for the nation and for the wider ASEAN region.

“The history of our cultural exchange runs deep – from river‑boat banana‑stem boats to grand stage renditions of the Mahabharata,” Modi said, linking heritage to future cooperation.

The speech highlighted that both countries share a hunger for progress and have no intention of slowing down. India’s economy, he noted, stayed active even when the Covid‑19 pandemic and Middle‑East crises rattled global markets.

Modi assured that India will continue to collaborate with Indonesia on infrastructure, trade, technology and people‑to‑people ties, positioning the partnership as a catalyst for regional prosperity.

He thanked the Indian diaspora for its warmth, posted a brief note on X describing the event’s vibrant atmosphere, and lauded President Joko Widodo’s contribution to the occasion.
