How July 1 Adjustments Will Affect Your Wallet: Fuel, Identity, Travel and Loans

The start of July 2024 brought a bundle of changes that will touch several pockets of Indian consumers.

**Fuel** – Commercial LPG 19‑kg cylinders were discounted by Rs 183.50, setting the new price at Rs 2,930. The 14‑kg domestic cylinder stayed at Rs 942, with no alteration.

**Identity** – The UIDAI announced a free‑of‑charge window for adding or editing an email address in the Aadhaar database, applicable from 1 July until 31 December 2024. Previously, users paid Rs 75 for this service.

**Travel documents** – Passport fees were revised upward: the normal passport fee rose to Rs 2,500, while the urgent (tatka) fee increased to Rs 5,000.

**Automobiles** – Several makers raised ex‑showroom prices on 1 July. Tata Motors lifted passenger‑vehicle prices by up to 1.5 % and commercial‑vehicle prices by up to 2.5 %. Kia Motors and BMW each introduced a 2 % increase, and MG Motors announced a 3 % hike.

**Banking benefits** – SBI Card updated reward‑point structures for selected PhonePe‑linked cards, imposing fresh limits and removing certain spend categories from point accrual. HDFC’s Regalia Gold card now allows three free domestic airport lounge accesses per quarter, contingent upon a quarterly spend of at least Rs 60,000.

These July 1 adjustments span essential services and discretionary purchases, meaning households should re‑evaluate budgets to accommodate the new pricing landscape.
