Government Sets Ambitious 2029 Targets for Defence Output and Exports

The central government aims to boost annual defence production to ₹3 lakh crore and defence exports to ₹50,000 crore by the end of 2029. To achieve these goals, policy reforms such as the Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020, the earlier Defence Procurement Procedure 2016, and the 2025 Defence Procurement Manual have streamlined approvals, reduced penalties for indigenous projects, and promised long‑term orders. These measures are intended to accelerate the Make‑in‑India agenda and strengthen the domestic supply chain.
