Gold and Silver Spot Prices Jump Amid Global Tensions Relief
Spot prices for gold and silver in India surged on Thursday as the MCX futures market opened with strong buying pressure. The October 5, 2026 gold contract started at ₹1,49,029 per 10 g, overtaking the ₹1.49 lakh barrier, and climbed to ₹1,49,343 by 10:13 a.m., a rise of 0.57%. The metal’s trading band for the day was ₹1,48,900–₹1,49,525.
Silver’s September 4, 2026 contract moved to ₹2,27,920 per kilogram, up ₹336 (0.15%) from the previous close, with a daily range of ₹2,27,008–₹2,28,397.
Globally, gold advanced 0.36% to $4,320 per ounce and silver edged up 0.12% to $62.36 per ounce on COMEX. Analysts say the easing of the U.S.–Iran standoff has lowered crude‑oil prices, reducing short‑term inflation risk and allowing the dollar index to dip below 100, which together have lifted precious‑metal sentiment.
