FY2025‑26 sees Rs 91.7 lakh crore drop in F&O losses for retail investors

The Ministry of Finance disclosed that total losses for retail participants in the futures‑and‑options segment decreased to Rs 91,685 crore in FY2026, down from Rs 1,11,788 crore in the previous year. Despite the aggregate reduction, the per‑investor average loss edged up to Rs 1,16,654, compared with Rs 1,13,913 a year earlier. Turnover in equity derivatives also softened, falling from Rs 213 lakh crore in FY2025 to Rs 202 lakh crore in FY2026.
