India’s auto market kicked off 2026 on a high note with Mahindra & Mahindra reporting 97,177 vehicle sales in February, an 18% rise year-over-year including exports. Domestic SUV numbers alone reached 60,018 units, up 19%, while total SUVs sold hit 60,685 with overseas shipments.
Commercial vehicles contributed solidly with 24,585 units dispatched. Mahindra Automotive CEO Nalinikanth Gollagunta praised the broad-based demand: ‘Our 60,018 SUV sales in February showcase customer enthusiasm across segments, driving total sales to 97,177 units.’
Renault India matched the enthusiasm, dispatching 3,495 wholesale units—a 31% growth from February 2025’s 2,676. Standouts included the Kiger and Triber, with Triber surging 57% year-on-year thanks to its updated avatar.
The company’s strategic product refreshes have paid off, maintaining upward trajectory since Q3 2025: 9% growth then, 27% in Q4, and 32% over January-February 2026. Buzz around the Duster’s India relaunch is already boosting dealer inquiries.
