The Madhya Pradesh government has unveiled an aggressive expansion roadmap for horticultural farming. The target is to increase cultivated area to three million hectares within the next decade, up from the present 2.8 million.
Key measures include incentivising farmers to switch to high‑value crops, improving irrigation infrastructure, and facilitating access to certified planting material. The state also intends to leverage the newly granted GI tags to open export markets and attract private investment.
These actions are part of the broader ‘Kisan Kalyan’ year 2026 celebrations, which aim to enhance agricultural facilities and secure fair pricing mechanisms for produce across the region.
