The ethanol‑blended petrol scheme has helped India save more than ₹1.97 lakh crore in foreign exchange by curbing crude oil imports, the ministry said. In addition, the program trimmed carbon dioxide emissions by over 950 million metric tonnes.
The financial relief also translated into payments exceeding ₹1.66 lakh crore to farmers and distilleries, creating a stable domestic market for agricultural produce.
