Engine Oil Drop Triggers Precautionary Return of Air India Express Flight from Abu Dhabi

Air India Express confirmed that its Cochin‑Abu Dhabi service was aborted after the flight deck received an engine‑oil‑pressure alert. The Boeing 737, flight number IX‑415, was cruising at 36,000 feet when engine 1’s oil level began to fall rapidly.

The crew, adhering to built‑in safety procedures, assessed the situation using the FORDEC framework and chose to divert back to Cochin. Within 45 minutes of the initial indication, the oil pressure entered the red zone, but the pilots maintained control and guided the aircraft safely to the runway.

All occupants were unharmed, and the airline arranged an alternative aircraft to complete the journey to Abu Dhabi. The airline reiterated that any sign of technical irregularity activates a strict safety response to protect passengers.
