Diversified Supply Chains and Trade Deals Shield India from Global Risks
P.K. Mishra, the principal secretary to the Prime Minister, said that India's strategy of spreading its supply chains across multiple partners has reduced the country's exposure to global disruptions. He pointed out that the nation has signed numerous free‑trade agreements, creating a wide network of commercial relationships.
Mishra explained that this approach allows India to stay open to the world while limiting its sensitivity to external shocks. The focus on expanding manufacturing capabilities further strengthens this protective shield.
He also mentioned that strategic tools such as tariffs are being used selectively, turning critical routes into sources of leverage rather than vulnerability.
The official underscored that the challenge is not whether globalization has ended, but how economies can retain its advantages while becoming less prone to sudden jolts.
