Commodity Market Reacts: Gold Up 1.5%, Silver Gains 2%
On Tuesday, Indian traders observed a notable uptick in precious metal prices as the United States and Iran locked horns over regional issues. Gold advanced roughly 1.5%, adding more than ₹2,000 per 10‑gram unit, while silver posted a gain of over 2%, translating to an increase of about ₹5,000 per kilogram.
The October‑delivery gold futures opened at ₹1,54,699 per 10 grams, up 1.04% from the previous close of ₹1,53,099, and later reached an intra‑day high of ₹1,55,437, a rise of ₹2,338 (1.52%). At the time of reporting, the price stood at ₹1,53,994, up ₹895 (0.58%).
Silver’s September‑delivery contract started at ₹2,39,999 per kilogram, a 1.32% jump from the prior close of ₹2,36,867, and peaked at ₹2,45,131, up ₹5,132 (2.16%). It was trading at ₹2,36,496, down ₹371 (0.16%) when the article was drafted.
The rally is driven by expectations of continued loose monetary policy in the U.S., a weakening dollar, and growing domestic demand for safe‑haven assets. Future price movements will hinge on geopolitical developments and macro‑economic indicators.
