Cold‑chain and marketing infrastructure expanded under PMMSY and FIDF

A further announcement covered the development of cold‑chain and marketing facilities approved under PMMSY and the Fisheries Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF). Up to April 2026, the government sanctioned proposals worth INR 2,797 crore.

Key projects include 775 cold storage and ice plants, 28,489 transport units such as ice‑box equipped motorbikes, bicycles, auto‑rickshaws, insulated trucks and refrigerated trucks. Additionally, the plan covers 1,394 live‑fish sales units, 6,018 fish kiosks, 117 retail fish markets and 24 wholesale fish markets spread across all states and Union Territories.

These investments are expected to reduce post‑harvest losses, improve price realization for farmers, and strengthen supply chains from pond to plate.
