CM Suvendu Adhikari Promises Hassle‑Free Land for Investors
Kolkata, July 11 – Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has pledged a smooth land‑allocation process for companies looking to start operations in West Bengal. The new directive authorises the state to acquire land directly from owners and allocate it to approved projects, removing the protracted negotiations that previously stalled many ventures.
During the inauguration of a hose‑pipe manufacturing facility in Danakuni, Hooghly, the CM remarked that the government had already employed a similar direct‑purchase method for securing border‑security zones, which will now be extended to the industrial sector.
"We aim to prevent the kind of land‑related unrest that occurred in Singur and Nandigram," he declared. "Businesses will receive the required plots without facing bureaucratic obstacles."
Adhikari highlighted that a stable legal environment and a crackdown on corruption are essential for fostering confidence among investors. The current administration claims to have made significant strides in these areas.
He also condemned the previous Trinamool regime for inheriting a sizeable debt pile, noting that the state is compelled to allocate about ₹1 lakh crore annually for debt repayment. By attracting more factories and capital, the CM believes West Bengal can enhance its revenue base and lessen the fiscal burden.
To further boost employment, the government will make affordable loans available to start‑ups and will encourage large‑scale private sector job creation, supplementing the limited vacancies offered by public sector undertakings.
The direct‑land‑purchase initiative is presented as a vital element of the state's broader plan to re‑establish West Bengal as a top destination for domestic and foreign investment.
