In a landmark moment for Odisha’s economy, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled India’s pioneering Flat Rolled Products (FRP) Aluminium Unit at Hindalco’s Aditya Aluminium facility in Sambalpur’s Lapanga on Tuesday. This move signals the kickoff of a fresh industrial revolution in the eastern state.
Majhi revealed that Odisha is on a fast track with industrial proposals totaling Rs 20 lakh crore, poised to spawn 15 lakh employment opportunities once implemented. The newly launched unit, backed by a massive Rs 26,996 crore investment, promises 5,012 jobs and will supercharge downstream industries while creating new avenues for local livelihoods.
‘Western Odisha stands tall today as a beacon of self-assurance, discipline, and enterprise, morphing from jungle-covered fields and farmlands into world-class manufacturing hubs,’ Majhi proclaimed to the audience.
He hailed the workforce as the backbone of the state’s industrial triumphs, crediting their unwavering commitment for seamless operations and steady advancement.
Development, according to Majhi, isn’t just about capital inflows or policy declarations—it’s about real-world impacts: employment for the young, stability for households, superior schooling, and robust healthcare systems.
Spotlighting western Odisha’s emergence as an international industrial powerhouse, the CM stressed people-centric growth through global investments. Key focuses include generating local employment, empowering small and medium enterprises, advancing high-value and eco-friendly production, and guaranteeing inclusive progress for every citizen.
Majhi called on residents to embrace industries with open arms. Post-event, he launched the 25th Enterprise Odisha 2026 expo in Rourkela, where top firms displayed their innovations and opportunities.
The inauguration culminated in a vibrant cultural extravaganza and Rourkela’s debut drone spectacle, blending the region’s cultural legacy with its industrial renaissance.
