Ethnic wear segment drags Aditya Birla Fashion Retail deeper into deficit

The ethnic wear and related businesses were the main pressure points for ABFRL in Q1. The segment’s loss widened to Rs 188.54 crore from Rs 178.82 crore a year ago, even though its revenue increased to Rs 830.79 crore from Rs 754.57 crore. By contrast, the Pantaloons division posted a modest profit of Rs 3.48 crore (down from Rs 3.67 crore) on revenue of Rs 1,204.39 crore, up from Rs 1,094.13 crore. Overall segment revenue before inter‑segment adjustments rose to Rs 2,035.18 crore, compared with Rs 1,848.70 crore last year.
